Taking a recommendation from my wino friend (hey, Mitch!), this week’s destination was The Foreign Affair, tucked in right along the shore of Lake Ontario. A bit off the beaten path, the winery is a hidden gem housed in a former agricultural study building, next door to the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre.
In search of a cozy corner for a weekend lunch date, this week’s winery was chosen solely for its lunch menu, but was memorable because of its visual appeal.
Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Caroline Cellars did not disappoint, looking as though it came straight out of a dreamy Pinterest board. Decorated in rustic barn board and strung with twinkling lights, the tasting bar and café are warm and inviting, with shelves that modestly display rows of wine bottles draped in awards and medals.
Hi! Welcome to The Glass Half Full.
Before moving to Niagara Region, I always considered myself to be just another wine-drinking young adult.
I remember once seeing someone tear up while tasting an earthy red wine over dinner. That was the first time I realized the emotional connection a great glass of wine can have.
